IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

1. This Regulation applies to the trans-European transport network as shown on the maps contained in Annex I. The trans-European transport network comprises transport infrastructure and telematic applications as well as measures promoting the efficient management and use of such infrastructure and permitting the establishment and operation of sustainable and efficient transport services.
1. Le présent règlement s'applique au réseau transeuropéen de transport décrit dans les cartes figurant à l'annexe I. Le réseau transeuropéen de transport comprend des infrastructures de transport et des applications télématiques, ainsi que des mesures visant à promouvoir la gestion et l'utilisation efficaces de ces infrastructures et permettant la mise en place et la gestion de services de transport durables et efficaces.

It is therefore necessary to ensure adequate and concerted deployment of such requirements across Europe for each transport mode and for their interconnection across the trans-European transport network and beyond, in order to obtain the benefits of the network effect and to make efficient long-range trans-European transport operations possible.

In order fully to achieve the objectives of the new trans-European transport network policy, uniform requirements regarding the infrastructure should be established in a Regulation to be complied with by the infrastructure of the trans-European transport network.

The Council attaches great importance to the need to take into account the changes that have taken place in the EU since the adoption of the guidelines for the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) and to respond to the needs of the growing trade and transport flows, as stated in the conclusions on the extension of the major trans-European transport axes to the neighbouring countries, adopted by the ‘Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council’ in June 2007.

The Trans-European Transport Network Executive Agency (hereinafter referred to as the Agency) was set up by Commission Decision 2007/60/EC (2) of 26 October 2006, to manage the Community action in the field of the trans-European transport network until 31 December 2008 for the implementation of tasks concerning the granting of Community financial aid pursuant to Council Regulation (EC) No 2236/95 of 18 September 1995 laying down general rules for the granting of Community financial aid in the field of the trans-European networks (3).
