Although the federal government still does not have, or is not developing, a policy on this issue, I would like to encourage the standing committee, when making its recommendations, to keep in mind Canada's international obligations in other international conventions and other instruments, such as the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on Climate Change, the POPs protocol, and human rights instruments that Canada is involved in internationally.
