On the one hand, the hon. member from the Reform Party, who does not speak French and may not even have bothered to come to Quebec to enquire about the real demands Quebec has been making for 30 years, but is nevertheless trying to preach the virtues of unity based on some kind of Anglo-Canadian supremacy that would basically drown out Quebec's demands.

Jean-Paul Marchand (Québec-Est, BQ): Monsieur le Président, je trouve que le débat entamé entre le député réformiste de Surrey, je crois, et le député de «La Salle Blues Band», de l'autre côté de la Chambre, illustre bien le problème auquel on fait face au Canada parce que, d'une part, l'honorable député du Parti réformiste, qui ne parle pas français, n'a peut-être même pas pris la peine de venir au Québec pour se renseigner sur les vraies revendications du Québec qui durent depuis 30 ans, alors qu'il essaie de nous prêcher les vertus d'une unité basée sur une sorte de suprématie anglo-canadienne où on veut noyer un peu les revendications du Québec.
