I have no doubt about where the responsibility for these extensive infringements lies and I regret that these violations by municipal and regional authorities have undermined attempts by many others to create sustainable development, where a healthy economy goes hand in hand with respect for the environment and for cultural heritage.
Je n’ai aucun doute concernant les responsables de ces infractions répandues et je regrette que ces violations commises par les autorités municipales et régionales aient nui aux tentatives de beaucoup d’autres de créer un développement durable, où une économie saine va de pair avec le respect de l’environnement et du patrimoine culturel.

Back in January, I held in-depth discussions in Brussels with representatives of Slovak local authorities on the possibility of EU aid for the highest-lying regions of Slovakia, having organised the meeting in my capacity as an MEP and as President of the Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic, in order to provide the representatives with information on the opportunities available and the way in which the European institutions work.
