(3) Every person who applies, or causes the application of, a new approved tag to an animal, or the carcass of an animal, that already bears an approved tag or an approved tag that has been revoked shall, within 30 days after the new approved tag is applied, report to the responsible administrator the number of the new approved tag as well as the number of the previously applied tag.

Notwithstanding anything in these Regulations or the Fishery (General) Regulations, where a person at any time catches a halibut that bears a tag affixed by the Commission, the person may retain the halibut, if at the time of the landing of the halibut the person reports the landing to a fishery officer or a representative of the Commission and makes the halibut, with the tag still affixed, available for examination by a fishery officer or a representative of the Commission.
77. Calls on the Commission and the Member States to support the development and utilisation of techniques to ensure full, effective traceability of fish products throughout the supply chain, including satellite tracking of fishing and support vessels and electronic tags to track fish, as well as the establishment of global fish DNA and other genetic databases to identify the fish products and their geographical origin as described in the Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) report ‘Deterring Illegal Activities in the Fisheries Sector – Genetics, Genomics, Chemistry and Forensics to Fight IUU Fishing and in Support of Fish Product Traceability’;

If this report – and I thank Liam Aylward for his work on it – achieves anything, I would hope that it would achieve a bit of realism on electronic tagging of sheep.
