This is why I disagree with the purport of the Mombaur report on cross-border electricity trade, even if through the proposals by Turmes and Rapkay more attention is paid to keeping track of greenhouse gases and nuclear waste, to promoting windmills and total energy, and to consumer protection. These objectives will ultimately not be compatible, which is why I am voting against the proposal.
Je rejette donc la teneur du rapport Mombaur sur les échanges transfrontaliers d’électricité, même si les propositions de MM. Turmes et Rapkay sont favorables à la comptabilité des gaz à effet de serre et des déchets nucléaires, à la stimulation des moulins à vent et de la cogénération ainsi qu’à la protection des consommateurs. Ces objectifs s’avéreront in fine inconciliables et je rejette cette proposition.

If there had been just a Turmes report instead of the Rapkay-Turmes report we now have before us, it would not have seen the light of day in plenary.
S’il y avait eu un rapport Turmes au lieu du présent rapport Rapkay-Turmes, il n’aurait pas vu le jour de notre session plénière.
