European Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans and Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland issued this joint statement today, ahead of Human Rights Day on Sunday 10 December, calling on governments and opposition politicians across Europe to recommit to promoting and maintaining human rights standards.
A l'occasion de la Journée des droits de l'homme (10 décembre), le Premier Vice-Président de la Commission européenne, Frans Timmermans et le Secrétaire Général du Conseil de l'Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland, ont publié une déclaration commune appelant les gouvernements et les responsables politiques d'opposition de tous les États européens à confirmer leur attachement à la promotion et au maintien des normes en matière de droits de l'homme.

– having regard to the Joint Declaration of 10 October 2015 by the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, on behalf of the EU, and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland, on the European and World Day against the Death Penalty,
