Just as we have argued that it took September 11 perhaps to wake us up to the importance of doing something about our underfunded agencies and our deteriorating military, so too it has wakened us to perhaps a rather rosy and naive world that we live in, where we assume that all the terrorists were over there—you know, that the bombs were only going off in Spain or in the Balkans or in Ireland, or whatever the case may be.
