Ever since its creation in 1970, the Park has pursued a policy of sustainable development based on two lines of action: - measures to protect and manage the natural heritage, including an agreement with Electricité de France for the protection of birds of prey, contracts for ecologically useful projects, reintroduction of wild species, etc.; - measures to protect and manage the historical and human environment, including the restoration of historic buildings, the upgrading of accommodation for tourists, support for the use of traditional construction materials and methods: opening-up of slate quarries, training in traditional roofing techniques using stone tiles ("lauzes") or thatch, etc. The Park also provides special facilities for making the local heritage accessible to tourists, with 17 information centres and a quality-labelling system for holiday accommodation, a programme of cultural events and the publication of a "Cévennes" collection of works focusing on the region's cultural identity.
Le Parc mène une politique de développement durable depuis sa création en 1970, qui s'appuie sur des mesures de protection et de gestion : - du patrimoine naturel : convention avec EDF pour la protection des rapaces, contrats de travaux d'utilité écologique, réintroduction d'espèces sauvages.- du patrimoine historique et humain : restauration du patrimoine et amélioration de l'hébergement touristique, soutien aux techniques et matériaux de construction traditionnels (ouverture de carrières de schistes, formation à l'utilisation de la lauze, du chaume...) Le Parc mène également des actions de valorisation touristique du patrimoine, avec 17 centres d'information, la labellisation des hébergements touristiques de qualité, un programme d'animation culturelle et l'édition d'une collection thématique "Cévennes" mettant en valeur l'identité culturelle locale.
