Member States are encouraged to introduce or maintain provisions which are more favourable than those laid down in this Directive with a view to achieve the aim of Article 23 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and to ensure a more balanced representation of men and women in respect of companies incorporated in their national territory, provided those provisions are geared towards the aim of this Directive and do not go beyond what is necessary to achieve this aim or do not create unjustified discrimination.

Recalls that over half of the EU's territory is managed by farmers, that farmland delivers important ecosystem services and has considerable socio-economic value, and that funding for the CAP represents a significant part of the EU budget; stresses that the CAP is not confined to the aim of food provision and rural development, but is a crucial tool for biodiversity, conservation, mitigation of climate change, and maintenance of ecosystem services; notes that the CAP already includes measures aimed at environmental protection, such as decoupling, cross-compliance and agri-environment measures; considers it regrettable, however, that these measures have so far failed to halt the overall decline in biodiversity in the EU and that farmland biodiversity is in continued decline; calls, therefore, for a reorientation of the CAP towards the provision of compensation to farmers for the delivery of public goods, since the market is currently failing to integrate the economic value of the important public goods agriculture can deliver;

The London District Chiefs Council believes that the following list of issues should form an integral part of any legislation that attempts to recognize the self-governing powers of first nations in Canada: nation recognition legislation; membership issues controlled at the first nation level and not by the Indian Act or the First Nations Governance Act; fair land acquisitions in addition-to-reserve policies; matrimonial and property rights jurisdiction on first nations territories; aiming towards gradual dismantling of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada in favour of first nations governance and administration on first nations' terms; clarification of first nations as a separate level of governance with commensurate funding to ensure success that will give full effect to the original spirit and intent of our treaties.

The 1986 Council guidelines defined the main principles of the Community attitude towards the Palestinian population and Israel with regard to the Occupied Territories : a) Aid will benefit the Palestinian population of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. b) Aid will be implemented without the Community seeking approval from the Israeli authorities. c) The Community will avoid actions that relieve the Israeli Government of its responsibility to maintain and develop the infrastructure of the Occupied Territories. d) Community aid will aim at improving and strengthening the economic, social and productive sectors.

The overall aim of the project is to tip the balance of economic activity in French Polynesia towards the primary sector and the kind of activities where there is a prospect of more exports, of generating and creating real jobs and of creating activities in the archipelago's periphery which will stop the inhabitants of the outer islands emigrating and reduce the territory's trade balance deficit.
L'objectif global du projet est le rééquilibrage des activités économiques de la Polynésie Française au profit du secteur primaire et des activités induites avec la perspective de développer l'exportation, de générer des créations d'emplois viables et de créer des activités dans les archipels périphériques afin de maintenir la population sur place, ainsi que de réduire le déficit de la balance commerciale du Territoire.
