On certain submarkets, particularly in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Thyssen/Rheinstahl Group will be in a very strong position. In spite of tendency towards concentration of the present oligopoly situation, there remain sufficient potential competitors on the steel market within the enlarged Community. Seven of these are of the same order of size as Thyssen/Rheinstahl, while the remaining 130 are for the most part undertakings specializing in particular products (e.g. special steels).
