After the signing of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) in May 1998, the entry into force of the Interim Agreement will mark another step in the strengthening of the relations between the EU and Turkmenistan, as it makes it possible to implement more rapidly the trade and trade-related provisions of the PCA, pending the completion of the procedures for its ratification: i.a. the general principles, current payments, competition, protection of intellectual, industrial and commercial property and the Protocol on mutual assistance between administrative authorities in customs matters.
Après la signature de l'accord de partenariat et de coopération (APC) en mai 1998, l'entrée en vigueur de l'accord intérimaire marquera une autre étape du renforcement des relations entre l'UE et le Turkménistan, car elle permet de mettre en oeuvre plus rapidement les dispositions de l'APC relatives au commerce et aux mesures d'accompagnement, en attendant l'achèvement des procédures en vue de sa ratification : il s'agit notamment des principes généraux, des paiements courants, de la concurrence, de la protection de la propriété intellectuelle, industrielle et commerciale, et du protocole relatif à l'assistance mutuelle entre autorités administratives en matière douanière.
