Furthermore in a report on the first two years of the Action Plan, the Commission draws a positive balance. Seventeen braodcasters joined the ranks of wide-screen broadcasters during 1995, bringing the total to 39 braodcasters transmitting in thirteen Member States. The 50,000 hours of wide-screen braodcasting they are transmitting have triggered sales of 500,000 16:9 TV sets so far, with a 64% increase in 1995 alone.
