We heard from the president and CEO of SNC-Lavalin here yesterday, and I would suspect that if Bombardier and Northern Telecom were before us we'd hear much the same thing: that there is a tremendous untapped marketplace for Canadian business abroad and it would be enhanced substantially if we had support from the Canadian banking system at a higher level, which had infrastructure and operations abroad, which knew the culture, knew how to do business there and was able to support international business out of Canada.
Nous avons reçu le président et PDG de SNC-Lavalin hier, et je pense que des représentants de Bombardier et de la Northern Telecom nous diraient la même chose: c'est-à-dire qu'il y a énormément de marchés non exploités pour les entreprises canadiennes à l'étranger, et que ces possibilités seraient considérablement accrues si on bénéficiait d'un plus grand appui du système bancaire canadien, lequel serait doté d'une infrastructure et exercerait des activités à l'étranger, qui connaîtrait la culture des différents pays et saurait faire des affaires là-bas et qui pourrait appuyer les activités internationales des entreprises canadiennes.
