Finally, it should be mentioned that fishing by Community vessels has not given rise to any conflict of interests with or harmed the local small-scale fishing sectors, given that the agreements signed by the European Union with these countries are either tuna agreements, where vessels are granted the right to enter to fish for highly migratory species (generally tuna) passing through the country's EEZ, or, in the case of agreements relating to demersal species, the Community fleets are permitted to operate outside the 12 nautical mile limit, in which case there is no conflict between the small-scale local fleet and the Community long-distance fleet.
