Professor Pocchiari, one of the most highly-esteemed scientists in the field of TSE research, and a member of both the BSE sub-group of the Scientific Veterinary Committee and the Weissmann Group, told your Committee on 24 October that the measures adopted by the United Kingdom and the Commission were the right ones, but they had not been correctly implemented.
