The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) was established to provide support for workers made redundant and self-employed persons whose activity has ceased as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation, as a result of a continuation of the global financial and economic crisis addressed in Regulation (EC) No 546/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council (3), or as a result of a new global financial and economic crisis and to assist them with their reintegration into the labour market.

In the area of lifelong learning, the Council also calls on the Member States, in collaboration with the social partners, to develop the necessary skills to help students make the transition to the world of work, to help the unemployed to return to work and to provide workers with further training so that they can progress in their work.
Dans le contexte de l'éducation et de la formation tout au long de la vie, le Conseil invite également les États membres, en collaboration avec les partenaires sociaux, à développer les compétences nécessaires pour faciliter le passage des étudiants au monde du travail, pour aider les chômeurs à y rentrer et pour fournir une formation continue aux travailleurs afin qu'ils puissent y progresser.
