In order to improve the coordination and consistency of scientific advice, therefore, the Commission has: * organized additional conferences (two on BSE and one major conference on hormones last year); * set up an ad hoc multidisciplinary committee; unfortunately, the opinions delivered by this committee so far have not lived up to our expectations.
