‘The following principles for methods of microbiological parameters are given either for reference, whenever a CEN/ISO method is given, or for guidance, pending the possible future adoption by the Commission of further CEN/ISO international methods for those parameters.

Considers that a meaningful outcome to the work of CEN is particularly important to all stakeholders with a view to issuing material-related standards relating to paragraph 1 of Annex II to Directive 94/62/EC which afford producers greater legal certainty as regards compliance with prevention requirements; notes the fact, however, that the Commission has formally rejected three out of five CEN environmental standards for packaging; requests that CEN be asked to continue its work on drawing up standards for meeting the essential requirements in Annex II based on guidance on criteria for environmental friendly packaging; urges the Commission to ensure that all stakeholders are properly represented in the process, including representatives from consumer and environmental organisations; requests that that the essential requirements be put into the body of the revised legislation in clear terms with a view to ensuring democratic control and scrutiny;
6. is van mening dat zinnige resultaten van de werkzaamheden van het CEN voor alle belanghebbenden uiterst belangrijk zijn om standaardnormen voor verpakkingsmateriaal vast te stellen met betrekking tot punt 1 van Bijlage II van Richtlijn 94/62/EG, die de producenten een grotere rechtszekerheid bieden wat het in acht nemen van de preventievoorschriften betreft; stelt echter vast dat de Commissie drie van de vijf milieunormen van het CEN voor verpakkingen heeft verworpen; dringt erop aan dat het CEN slechts verzocht wordt door te blijven gaan met het schrijven van normen die voldoen aan de wezenlijke eisen in bijlage II, op basis van richtsnoeren inzake normen voor milieuvriendelijke verpakkingen; dringt er bij de Commissie op aan ervoor te zorgen dat alle belanghebbenden adequaat in het proces vertegenwoordigd zijn, inclusief vertegenwoordigers van consumenten- en milieuorganisaties; dringt erop aan dat de wezenlijke eisen in heldere bewoordingen worden opgenomen in het corpus van de herziene wetgeving om democratische sturing en controle te waarborgen;

Considers that, given the difficulties involved in setting prevention targets for the production of packaging waste, the work of the CEN is particularly important with a view to issuing standards relating to paragraph 1 of Annex II to Directive 94/62/EC which afford producers greater legal certainty as regards compliance with prevention requirements; however, welcomes the fact that the Commission has formally rejected three out of five CEN environmental standards for packaging; requests that CEN is only asked to continue its work on writing standards for meeting the environmental requirements detailed in Annex II of the packaging directive, if more precise guidance on criteria for environmental friendly packaging is given; urges the Commission to ensure that all stakeholders are properly represented in the process, including representatives from consumer and environmental organisations;
