Om de voornamelijk sociale voordelen te kunnen behalen van de verwachte ontwikkeling inzake groei, concurrentievermogen en werkgelegenheid, zal het programma Biotechnologie vooral betrekking hebben op de volgende vier onderzoekgebieden: ". de cel als fabriek", met als doel de stap te zetten van "biowetenschap" (biochemie, genetica, bio-informatica, enz.) naar "bioprocédés" (fermentatie, celcultuur, enz.); ". genoomanalyse", gericht op de ontwikkeling van methodologieën waarmee de sequentie van genomen kan worden vastgesteld en de biologische functies van genen kunnen worden geïdentificeerd; ". biotechnologie van planten en dieren", waa ...[+++]


The proposed research will be targeted on the following three main objectives: development of the "cell factory" concept, meaning a multidisciplinary approach to living cells, combining "bioscience" (biochemistry, genetics, bioinformatics, etc.) and "bioprocesses" (fermentation, cell culture, etc.); development of genome sequencing methodologies; plant molecular biology, with particular attention being paid to "molecular surgery" of crop species and to obtaining new agricultural products.

Het voorgenomen onderzoek is geconcentreerd op de volgende drie hoofddoelstellingen : inzicht in het begrip "de cel als fabriek", d.w.z. een multidisciplinaire benadering van de levende cel waarbij "biowetenschap" (biochemie, genetica, bio-informatica, enz.) wordt gecombineerd met "bioprocédé" (fermentatie, celkweek, enz.); ontwikkeling van methodologieën voor sequentie-analyse van het genoom; moleculaire plantenbiologie, waarbij bijzondere aandacht wordt besteed aan "moleculaire chirurgie" bij planten en de ontwikkeling van nieuwe landbouwprodukten.
