A Community grading scale for the classification of carcasses of adult bovine animals should be applied for recording prices and for intervention in the beef and veal sector.
Bij de constatering van de prijzen en de interventiemaatregelen in de sector rundvlees dient te worden uitgegaan van een communautair indelingsschema voor geslachte volwassen runderen.

Cyprus has requested the Commission to authorise the replacement of the formula used in the ‘Hennessy Grading Probe (HGP 4)’, method of grading pig carcasses as well as to authorise one new non-invasive up-to-date method (Ultra FOM 300) for grading pig carcasses on its territory and has presented a detailed description of the dissection trial, indicating the principles on which that method is based, the results of its dissection trial and the equations used for assessing the percentage of lean meat in the protocol provided for in Article 23(4) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 1249/2008 of 10 December 2008 laying down detailed rules on the implementation of the Community scales for the classification of beef, pig and sheep carcasses and the reporting of prices thereof (3).

Where slaughter takes place in a slaughterhouse which is not subject to the application of the Community grading scale for carcases of adult bovine animals, Member States may permit the weight to be established on the basis of the live weight of the slaughtered animal.
Voor dieren die worden geslacht in een slachthuis dat niet verplicht is het communautaire indelingsschema voor geslachte volwassen runderen toe te passen, kan de lidstaat toestaan dat het gewicht wordt bepaald op basis van het levend gewicht van het geslachte dier.

Article 2(3) of Regulation (EEC) No 3220/84 provides that the grading of pig carcases must be determined by estimating the content of lean meat in accordance with statistically proven assessment methods based on the physical measurement of one or more anatomical parts of the pig carcase; the authorisation of grading methods is subject to compliance with a maximum tolerance for statistical error in assessment; this tolerance was defined in Article 3 of Commission Regulation (EEC) No 2967/85 of 24 October 1985 laying down detailed rules for the application of the Community scale for grading pig carcases (2).
In artikel 2, lid 3, van Verordening (EEG) nr. 3220/84 is bepaald dat geslachte varkens moeten worden ingedeeld door het aandeel aan mager vlees te schatten met behulp van statistisch verantwoorde methoden die zijn gebaseerd op de fysieke meting van één of meer anatomische delen van het geslachte varken.
