The Committee was consulted on the following subjects: the draft Regulation n° 448/2004, FIFG programming documents of the 10 new Member States, the innovative actions projects, the conference on the future of FIFG, the interpretation of Article 16 of Regulation 2797/99 and on the draft rules of procedure of the Committee.

Considering the activities of Decision 2009/42/CFSP which expires in May 2010, the need to prepare for a successful UN Conference on the ATT in 2012, and the recommendation contained in resolution 64/48 to ensure the widest possible and effective participation in the Conference, the Union should support the preparatory process leading up to the UN Conference to ensure that it is as inclusive as possible and able to make concrete recommendations on the elements of a future ATT.

Calls for a continuing integrated approach to European maritime policy in the future; stresses that this should include at least regular coordination meetings of the relevant Commissioners and regular public exchanges of views with other stakeholders, for example during biennial conferences; calls on future Council Presidencies to include maritime policy in their work programmes; also calls on the Commission to indicate annually all EU-funded projects with maritime relevance.
