Calls on the Commission to require Member States to provide information on the austerity measures being implemented and to carry out social impact assessments of austerity measures and include recommendations tackling the medium-term and long-term social and economic impact of such measures in their country-specific recommendations; calls on the Commission to produce regular summary reports of such assessments and forward them to Parliament; requests that the European Semester process should not only focus on the financial sustainability of social security systems but also take into account possible impacts on the accessibility and quality dimension of care services;

The ‘Open Method of Coordination’ for Social Protection, Social Inclusion and Long-Term Care with associated activities (peer review process, conference, theme for the next joint report) can provide a platform for sharing best practice, in particular with regard to standards of care and for the financing of social protection for people with neurodegenerative conditions and their families.
De open coördinatiemethode voor sociale bescherming, sociale integratie en langdurige zorg en de daarmee samenhangende activiteiten (collegiale toetsing, conferentie, thema voor het volgende gezamenlijk verslag) kan een platform bieden voor het uitwisselen van beste praktijken, met name op het gebied van kwaliteitsnormen voor de gezondheidszorg en van de financiering van sociale bescherming voor mensen met neurodegeneratieve aandoeningen en hun familieleden.

10. Believes that Europe's future ability to maintain a high level of social protection for those in need of health and long-term care will, in the future, be particularly influenced by population ageing, and that health-care systems will also have to adapt to the different pattern of illness linked to the change in the age-profile of patients; therefore strongly supports the open method of coordination launched by the Commission in the field of health care and care for the elderly, as part of a strategy to guarantee them a high level of social protection in the Member States; the process of mutual learning and cooperative exchange should be continued and strengthened, in exchanging experiences and best practice with regard to three broad objectives of access, quality and sustainability;
10. is van mening dat de toekomstige mogelijkheden van Europa om een hoog niveau van sociale zekerheid in stand te houden voor diegenen die behoefte hebben aan gezondheidszorg en langdurige verpleging in de toekomst vooral zullen worden bepaald door de vergrijzing van de bevolking, en dat de systemen van gezondheidszorg ook zullen moeten worden aangepast aan de verschillende ziektepatronen die samenhangen met de verandering van de leeftijdsopbouw van patiënten; is daarom groot voorstander van de open coördinatiemethode die door de Commissie is geïnitieerd op het gebied van gezondheids- en bejaardenzorg, als onderdeel van een strategie die hen een hoog niveau van sociale zekerheid in de lidstaten moet waarborgen; het proces van wederzijds leren en uitwisseling op basis van samenwerking moet worden voortgezet en versterkt en ervaringen en beste praktijken moeten worden uitgewisseld met betrekking tot de drie algemene doelstellingen, namelijk toegang, kwaliteit en duurzaamheid;
