In accordance with the principle of better legislation, the current revision process should be used not only to adapt the Directive to the UN Protocol, but also to bring to the Directive the improvements that are needed.

Given the availability of safer alternatives, it is clear from current EU law on workers' health and safety that DCM should be substituted.
