Urges the Commission to present the communication on sustainable food, which has been postponed several times since 2013, during the first half of 2016; stresses that, as the production and consumption of food accounts for a significant share of resource use, that communication should holistically address resource inefficiencies in the food chain and encourage the development of a sustainable food policy; calls on the Commission to assess increasing the use of environmentally friendly food packaging, including an assessment of the feasibility of gradually replacing food packaging with bio-based and biodegradable, compostable material in accordance with European standards;
65. dringt er bij de Commissie op aan de mededeling over duurzaam voedsel, die sinds 2013 diverse malen is uitgesteld, in de eerste helft van 2016 te presenteren; benadrukt dat, aangezien de productie en consumptie van voedsel een aanzienlijk aandeel in het hulpbronnenverbruik hebben, de mededeling een holistische kijk moet geven op inefficiënt hulpbronnengebruik in de voedselketen en moet aanzetten tot het ontwikkelen van een duurzaam voedselbeleid; verzoekt de Commissie het verhogen van het gebruik van milieuvriendelijke verpakkingen van levensmiddelen te beoordelen, met inbegrip van een beoordeling van de mogelijkheid om de verpakking van levensmiddelen geleidelijk te vervangen door materialen die biologisch afbreekbaar en composteerbaar zijn volgens de Europese normen;

Regrets that the current approach in the framework of the economic governance package remains unbalanced; points out that the economic governance package should strengthen surveillance of economic policies and ensure effective compliance with a sustainable fiscal consolidation as well as allow macro financial imbalances to be tackled properly and in a symmetrical rationale; insists that this package needs to be accompanied at the same time by a significantly stronger coordination and harmonisation of taxation policies as well as additional rules and measures to generate new revenues and preserve and encourage well targeted public long term investment within a tightened regulatory framework so that new rules will not be carried on at the expense of future generations and the most vulnerable and so as to achieve a sustainable economy; deems that Eurobonds are a necessary element of balanced and reinforced European economic governance;
1. betreurt dat de huidige aanpak in het kader van het pakket voorstellen inzake economisch bestuur onevenwichtig blijft; wijst erop dat het pakket voorstellen inzake economisch bestuur het toezicht op het economisch beleid moet versterken, moet zorgen voor daadwerkelijke conformiteit met een duurzame fiscale consolidering en het mogelijk moet maken dat macrofinanciële onevenwichtigheden naar behoren en op symmetrische wijze worden aangepakt; wijst er met klem op dat dit pakket vergezeld dient te gaan van een aanzienlijk grotere mate van coördinatie en harmonisatie van het fiscaal beleid en van aanvullende regels en maatregelen om nieuwe inkomsten te genereren en gerichte openbare investeringen op lange termijn in een strikt regelgevingskader zodanig moet handhaven en aanmoedigen dat de nieuwe regels niet ten koste gaan van toekomstige generaties en de meest kwetsbare personen en een duurzame economie tot stand wordt gebracht; is van mening dat euro-obligaties een noodzakelijk onderdeel zijn van een evenwichtig en versterkt Europees economisch bestuur;

29. WELCOMES the Commission's Communication on Impact Assessment as a part of the package on Better Regulation; UNDERLINES the principles underpinning that Communication, regarding in particular qualitative aspects, long-term impacts, the degree of irreversibility and the precautionary principle; ENCOURAGES the Commission to conduct sustainability impact assessments for different policy options both inside and outside the EU covering in particular economic, social and environmental impacts as stated by the Gothenburg European Council, and URGES the Commission to ensure full transparency of the results.
29. REAGEERT MET INSTEMMING op de mededeling van de Commissie over effectbeoordeling als onderdeel van het pakket inzake vereenvoudiging van de regelgeving; BEKLEMTOONT de in die mededeling vervatte beginselen met betrekking tot met name kwalitatieve aspecten, gevolgen op lange termijn, mate van onomkeerbaarheid en het voorzorgsbeginsel; MOEDIGT de Commissie AAN voor diverse beleidsopties zowel binnen als buiten de EU een duurzaamheidseffectbeoordeling uit te voeren, die met name betrekking heeft op de mogelijke economische, sociale en milieuconsequenties, zoals door de Europese Raad in Göteborg is bepaald en DRINGT er bij de Commissie OP AAN voor volledige transparantie van de resultaten te zorgen.

On the creditors' side, we encourage all countries to provide, on a timely basis, their share of multilateral financing and bilateral debt reduction. We acknowledge the problems of debt sustainability of some non HIPC low-income countries facing exceptional circumstances and recognise that there may be the need, to be assessed on a case by case basis, to provide additional assistance with a country's debt obligations, as a part of a wider relief and rehabilitation package.
