Advantage should be taken of the European Vehicle and Driving Licence Information System (Eucaris) software application, which is mandatory for Member States under the Prüm Decisions as regards VRD.
Er moet gebruik worden gemaakt van de softwaretoepassing Eucaris (European Vehicle and Driving Licence Information System), die uit hoofde van de Prüm-besluiten voor gegevens uit kentekenregisters verplicht is voor de lidstaten.

Hence, the exchange of information on vehicle registration data has to be conducted in electronic manner via already existent system EUCARIS – the European CAR and driving license information system, which is used by majority of the Member States.
Dit betekent dat de uitwisseling van informatie over voertuiginschrijvingsgegevens langs elektronische weg moet gebeuren, via het bestaande systeem EUCARIS – het Europees voertuig- en rijbewijsinformatiesysteem –, dat reeds door de meerderheid van de lidstaten wordt gebruik.

Therefore, it is necessary that the European Vehicle and Driving Licence Information System (Eucaris) is fully implemented and operational in order to be used for the purposes of this Regulation.
Daarom is het nodig dat het Europees voertuig- en rijbewijsinformatiesysteem (Eucaris) volledig ten uitvoer wordt gelegd en klaar is om voor de doeleinden van deze verordening te worden gebruikt.

(7) Advantage should be taken of the fact that the European Vehicle and Driving Licence Information System (Eucaris) software application, which is mandatory for Member States under the Prüm Decisions as regards VRD, provides for expeditious, secure and confidential exchange of specific VRD between Member States.

All of the information contained in train driving licences, complementary certificates and registers thereof should be used by the safety authorities to facilitate evaluation of the staff certification process provided for in Articles 10 and 11 of Directive 2004/49/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on safety on the Community’s railways and amending Council Directive 95/18/EC on the licensing of railway undertakings and Directive 2001/14/EC on the allocation of railway infrastructure capacity and the levying of charges for the use of railway infrastructure and safety certification (Railway Safety Directive) (2) and to speed up the issuing of the safety certificates provided for in those Articles.

The fight against vehicle crime will be intensified by an increase in the number of Member States acceding to the Treaty concerning a European Vehicle and Driving Licence Information System (EUCARIS) of 29 June 2000.
