IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

As anticipated in the October 2015 Communication on steps towards completing the Economic and Monetary Union, the Commission has made the implementation of the macroeconomic imbalances procedure (MIP) clearer and more transparent by reducing the number of categories for imbalances from six to four: no imbalances, imbalances, excessive imbalances andexcessive imbalances with corrective action (excessive imbalances procedure).

Excessive Imbalances Procedure: If the Commission concludes that excessive imbalances exist in a Member State, it may recommend that the Member State draw up a corrective action plan, including deadlines for new measures.
Procedure bij buitensporige onevenwichtigheden: Indien de Commissie constateert dat in een lidstaat sprake is van buitensporige onevenwichtigheden, kan zij die lidstaat aanbevelen een plan met corrigerende maatregelen en bijbehorende termijnen op te stellen.

Suspending implementation of the Macroeconomic Imbalance Procedure/Excessive Imbalance Procedure and the monitoring and reporting under the SGP and the European Semester will help avoid unnecessary duplication of monitoring and reporting obligations.
