2. Calls on the Commission to urge the Member States, in pursuance of the objectives of the Digital Agenda and once widespread broadband coverage has been achieved in Europe, to provide rural areas too with adequate fast and ultra-fast networks; with this in mind, considers that the roll-out of FTTB and FTTH should be intensified so as to avoid the creation of uneconomic transitional solutions;
2. verzoekt de Commissie de lidstaten ertoe aan te moedigen om in het kader van de doelstellingen van de digitale agenda, en zodra breedband wijd verspreid is in Europa, ook plattelandsgebieden te voorzien van adequate snelle en supersnelle breedbandnetten; is tegen deze achtergrond van mening dat de invoering van FTTB/FTTH verder bespoedigd moet worden om te voorkomen dat er oneconomische overgangsoplossingen ontstaan;
