TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

The outcomes of the debates that took place at the Symposium on 'Benefits and Limitations of Nuclear Fission Research for a Low Carbon Economy' prepared by an interdisciplinary study involving, among others, experts from the fields of energy, economics and social sciences, co-organised by the Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels on 26 and 27 February 2013, recognised the need to continue nuclear research at the European level.
In de resultaten van de debatten die zijn gevoerd tijdens het symposium over de voordelen en beperkingen van onderzoek naar kernsplijting voor een koolstofarme economie, welk symposium werd voorbereid door middel van een interdisciplinaire studie waarbij onder meer deskundigen op het gebied van energie, economie en sociale wetenschappen waren betrokken, en dat gezamenlijk door de Commissie en het Europees Economisch en Sociaal Comité werd georganiseerd in Brussel op 26 en 27 februari 2013, werd erkend dat het onderzoek inzake kernenergie op Europees niveau moet worden voortgezet.

having regard to the numerous petitions on practices of child welfare authorities and the protection of children’s rights, child custody, child abduction and childcare which the Committee on Petitions has received over the years from various EU Member States, and to the recommendations made in the reports on fact-finding visits to Germany (23-24 November 2011) (Jugendamt), Denmark (20-21 June 2013) (social services) and the United Kingdom (5-6 November 2015) (non-consensual adoptions),
gezien de talloze verzoekschriften over de handelwijze van kinderwelzijnsinstanties en de bescherming van de rechten van kinderen, ouderlijk gezag, kinderontvoering en kinderzorg die de Commissie verzoekschriften sinds jaar en dag vanuit verschillende lidstaten ontvangt en de aanbevelingen in haar verslagen over fact-findingbezoeken aan Duitsland (23-24 november 2011)(Jugendamt), Denemarken (20-21 juni 2013)(sociale diensten) en het Verenigd Koninkrijk (5-6 november 2015)(niet-consensuele adopties),

24. Highlights the fact that better knowledge and skills are essential; stresses the need to enhance the attractiveness and value of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects in education as well as the areas with predictable job shortages and which will require an increasing number of qualified workers in the coming years and are likely to ensure quality and sustainable jobs (for example, green economy, business services, ICT, healthcare and education); acknowledging that STEM subjects are of extreme importance to help more young people finding jobs in times of crisis, also calls for the right balance between the acquirement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills during studies, without neglecting the study of social sciences;
24. onderstreept het feit dat een hoger niveau van kennis en vaardigheden is vereist; benadrukt dat de aantrekkelijkheid en de waarde van de vakken wetenschap, technologie, techniek en wiskunde in het onderwijs moeten worden verhoogd, alsmede van de vakgebieden waar in de toekomst tekorten worden verwacht en die de komende jaren een toenemend aantal gekwalificeerde arbeidskrachten nodig zullen hebben en waarschijnlijk kwalitatief goede, duurzame banen bieden (bijvoorbeeld de groene economie, de zakelijke dienstverlening, ICT, gezondheidszorg en onderwijs); erkent dat de vakken wetenschap, technologie, techniek en wiskunde zeer belangrijk zijn om meer jongeren aan het werk te helpen in perioden van crisis, en pleit tevens voor het juiste evenwicht tussen de verwerving van theoretische kennis en praktische vaardigheden tijdens een studie, zonder daarbij voorbij te gaan aan de studie van de sociale wetenschappen;

Calls on the Commission and Member States to pay special attention to the social dimension of the development of nanotechnology, including to the accompanying social science research; underlines the fact that nanotechnology should be judged in terms of its usefulness and its effect on humans and the environment; furthermore considers that the active participation of the social partners concerned has to be ensured from the earliest possible stage.
36. verzoekt de Commissie en de lidstaten speciale aandacht te schenken aan de sociale dimensie van de ontwikkeling van nanotechnologie, dus ook aan het begeleidend sociaalwetenschappelijk onderzoek; onderstreept dat de nanotechnologie aan de hand van het nut en de gevolgen ervan voor mens en milieu moet worden beoordeeld; is voorts van mening dat een actieve deelname van de betrokken sociale partners vanaf een zo vroeg mogelijk stadium gewaarborgd moet zijn;

57. Calls for common research initiatives which leave scope for both applied research and basic research in various areas of technology, and which take account of the fact that innovation often arises at the interface between different scientific disciplines; in the future new employment may emerge primarily in the areas of biotechnology and ICT; research in the human and social sciences continues to be needed in the European Union, with its still growing diversity of cultures;
57. vraagt om een gemeenschappelijk onderzoeksbeleid waarin zowel ruimte is voor toegepast onderzoek als fundamenteel onderzoek op diverse technische vakgebieden en dat rekening houdt met het feit dat innovaties vaak ontstaan op het grensvlak van verschillende wetenschappelijke disciplines; is van mening dat in de toekomst nieuwe werkgelegenheid kan ontstaan vooral binnen de vakgebieden biotechnologie en informatie- en communicatietechnologie en dat onderzoek op het gebied van de mens- en sociale wetenschappen blijft in de Europese Unie met haar steeds grotere verscheidenheid aan culturen nodig blijft;

COMMISSION COMMUNICATION ON PERSPECTIVES FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT - COUNCIL RESOLUTION Following the discussions which have taken place on the Commission's communication on perspectives for international cooperation in research and technological development, both in CREST and in the Permanent Representatives Committee, the Council adopted the following resolution : "THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, Having examined the Commission communication of 20 October 1995 on Perspectives for International Cooperation in the field of RTD, and in the light of the opinion of the Scientific and Technical Research Committee (CREST), (1) ENDORSES the five overall objectives for future Community policy further to strengthen and increase cooperation in RTD with third countries, as follows: - strengthen European competitiveness and develop technologies for future markets; - develop partnership in science and technology, in particular with third countries of strategic interest to the Community; - share responsibility and conduct RTD on economic and social challenges; - promote RTD relevant to the needs and priorities of developing countries for fostering their sustainable growth; - share ST information and contribute to large scale and frontier science and technology (2) EMPHASIZES that cooperation with third countries in the field of RTD should continue to be based on the following principles: subsidiarity; mutual benefit; consistency with other Community policies, in particular the Union's external policies; efficiency and quality (3) UNDERLINES the need for a differentiation in approach between the different third country partners for economic, political and geographical reasons.
