Urban priorities within the programmes feature prominently in the programming documents and the assistance planned shows a high level of convergence with the Urban Framework for Action for sustainable urban development, which appears to be more closely linked to the Structural Fund programmes than to the ESDP.

4. At least 5 % of the ERDF resources allocated at national level under the Investment for growth and jobs goal shall be allocated to integrated actions for sustainable urban development where cities, sub-regional or local bodies responsible for implementing sustainable urban strategies ("urban authorities") shall be responsible for tasks relating, at least, to the selection of operations in accordance with Article 123(6) of Regulation (EU) No 1303/2013, or, where appropriate, in accordance with Article 123(7) of that Regulation.
4. The principles for selecting the urban areas where integrated actions for sustainable urban development are to be implemented, and the indicative amounts for those actions, should be set out in the Partnership Agreement with a minimum of 5 % of the ERDF resources allocated at national level for that purpose.

In addition to the activities listed in Articles 4 and 5 of this Regulation, in the case of action involving sustainable urban development as referred to in Article 37(4)(a) of Regulation (EC) No 1083/2006, the ERDF may, where appropriate, support the development of participative, integrated and sustainable strategies to tackle the high concentration of economic, environmental and social problems affecting urban areas.
Naast de activiteiten opgesomd in de artikelen 4 en 5 van deze verordening kan het EFRO, wat de acties op het gebied van duurzame stedelijke ontwikkeling bedoeld in artikel 37, lid 4, onder a), van Verordening (EG) nr. 1083/2006 betreft, waar passend de ontwikkeling steunen van participatieve, geïntegreerde en duurzame strategieën om de hoge concentratie van economische, ecologische en maatschappelijke problemen waarmee stedelijke gebieden te kampen hebben, aan te pakken.
