The Council meets in 10 configurations, bringing together the relevant ministers from EU countries: General Affairs; Foreign Affairs; Economic and Financial Affairs; Justice and Internal Affairs; Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs; Competitiveness; Transport, Telecommunications and Energy; Agriculture and Fisheries; Environment; Education, Youth and Culture.

Commission Decision (EU) 2015/512 provides that the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (‘the Directorate-General’) is responsible for the tasks related to the preparation of the Commission’s legislative and regulatory initiatives in order to protect the euro against counterfeiting and to provide support by means of training and technical assistance.

Welcomes the fact that the revised Financial Regulation obliges the EEAS to provide a working document on its building policy to the Parliament by 1 June each year; underlines that the revised Financial Regulation allows the EEAS to take loans for the acquisition of its offices and residences; urges the EEAS to maintain cost effective operation and to find appropriate financing solutions consulting the Commission's Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs;
35. is ermee ingenomen dat het herziene Financieel Reglement de EDEO verplicht het Parlement uiterlijk op 1 juni van elk jaar een werkdocument over zijn onroerendgoedbeleid te verstrekken; onderstreept dat het herziene Financieel Reglement de EDEO in staat stelt leningen op te nemen voor de acquisitie van zijn kantoren en residenties; roept de EDEO op een rendabele werking te handhaven en in overleg met directoraat-generaal Economische en Financiële Zaken passende financieringsoplossingen te vinden;

(c) it is not, however, necessary to strip the Commission Directorates-General of all their external relations responsibilities; particularly in fields where the Commission has executive powers, the integrity of current Community policies with an external dimension should be preserved; the Commission, striving to avoid duplication, should provide a specific model for the departments concerned, such as the Directorates-General for trade, enlargement and development and relations with African, Caribbean and Pacific States, EuropeAid, the European Community Humanitarian Office, the department for Human Rights and Democracy, the department for Election Assistance, and the externally oriented units of the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs;
