The choice of tissues should be based on considerations such as: 1) the route of administration or site of first contact (e.g. glandular stomach if administration is oral, lung if administration is through inhalation, or skin if topical application has been used); and 2) pharmacokinetic parameters observed in general toxicity studies, which indicate tissue disposition, retention or accumulation, or target organs for toxicity.
