TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

26. Commends the decision by the Assembly of Foundations to return the lands of the historic Mor Gabriel Monastery to the Syriac community in Turkey, in compliance with the pledge made by the government in the democratisation package; stresses the importance of continuing to provide an appropriate legal framework for the restoration of the property rights of all religious communities; stresses the importance of continuing the process of reform in the area of freedom of thought, conscience and religion by enabling religious communities to obtain legal personality, by eliminating all restrictions on the training, appointment and succession of clergy, by complying with the relevant judgments of the ECtHR and the recommendations of the Venice Commission and by eliminating all forms of discrimination or barriers based on religion; calls on the Government of Turkey to consider the request by the Alevi community to recognise the Cemevis as places of worship in their own right; underlines the importance of lifting all obstacles to a speedy reopening of the Halki Seminary and to public use of the ecclesiastical title of the Ecumenical Patriarch; calls on the Yargitay court to reverse its decision converting the historic Hagia Sophia Church in Trabzon as a mosque and push for its immediate re-opening as a museum.

14. Strongly encourages the authorities and civil society to take appropriate measures for historical reconciliation in order to overcome the divide between and within different ethnic and national groups, including citizens of Bulgarian identity; restates its call for positive progress to be made in joint celebrations of common events and figures with neighbouring EU Member States; encourages the attempts to establish joint expert committees on history and education, with the aim of contributing to an objective, fact-based interpretation of history, strengthening academic cooperation and promoting positive attitudes of young people towards their neighbours; urges the authorities to introduce educational materials free of ideological interpretations of history and aimed at improving mutual understanding; notes with concern the phenomenon of ‘antiquisation’; is convinced that culture and art should be used to bring people closer together rather than divide them; urges the government to send clear signals to the public and media that discrimination on the basis of national identity is not tolerated in the country, including in relation to the justice system, media, employment and social opportunities; underlines the importance of these actions for the integration of the various ethnic communities and the stability and European integration of the country;
14. dringt er krachtig bij de autoriteiten en het maatschappelijk middenveld op aan passende maatregelen voor historische verzoening te treffen, teneinde de scheidslijnen tussen en binnen verschillende etnische en nationale groeperingen, met inbegrip van burgers met een Bulgaarse nationaliteit, weg te nemen; herhaalt zijn oproep om vooruitgang te boeken ten aanzien van gezamenlijke vieringen voor gemeenschappelijke gebeurtenissen en persoonlijkheden met naburige EU-lidstaten; steunt de pogingen om gemengde deskundigencommissies met betrekking tot geschiedenis en onderwijs op te richten, met als doel bij te dragen tot een objectieve, op feiten gebaseerde interpretatie van de geschiedenis, nauwere academische samenwerking en de bevordering van een positieve houding van jongeren ten aanzien van hun buren; dringt er bij de autoriteiten op aan onderwijsmateriaal te introduceren dat vrij is van ideologische interpretaties van de geschiedenis en dat is gericht op wederzijds begrip; neemt met bezorgdheid kennis van het fenomeen van „antiquisatie”; is ervan overtuigd dat kunst en cultuur moeten worden gebruikt om mensen dichter bij elkaar te brengen en niet om verdeeldheid te zaaien; dringt er bij de regering op aan duidelijke signalen af te geven aan het publiek en de media dat discriminatie op grond van nationale identiteit niet wordt getolereerd in het land, ook niet in verband met het rechtssysteem, de media, werk en sociale kansen; onderstreept het belang van deze acties voor de integratie van de diverse etnische gemeenschappen en de stabiliteit en Europese integratie van het land;

14. Welcomes the efforts of the authorities of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to work together with neighbouring EU Member States with a view to reviewing possible discrepancies and misinterpretations of history that may cause disagreements, and urges promotion of the joint celebration of the country’s common cultural and historic heritage with its neighbours; is concerned about the lack of progress in countering the resurgence of ‘hate speech’, particularly in the media and the education system, against neighbouring states, and continues to urge the government to ensure public compliance with relevant EU and Council of Europe standards;
14. verheugt zich over de inspanningen van de autoriteiten van de Voormalige Joegoslavische Republiek Macedonië om met de aangrenzende EU-lidstaten samen te werken om mogelijke onderling afwijkende en onjuiste interpretaties van de geschiedenis, die tot onenigheden kunnen leiden, te herzien en dringt aan op gezamenlijke eerbiediging van het cultureel en historisch erfgoed dat het land met zijn buren gemeen heeft; maakt zich zorgen over het gebrek aan vooruitgang in de strijd tegen de terugkerende hatelijke uitlatingen tegen buurlanden, met name in de media en het onderwijs, en blijft er bij de regering op aandringen om voor openbare inachtneming van de overeenkomstige normen van de EU en de Raad van Europa te zorgen;

As regards the justification of restrictions on the free movement of capital based on the historical background to the law and its objectives in terms of social, regional, economic and industrial policy, Mr Ruiz-Jarabo considers that the German Government’s approach is too wide and too far removed from reality and is not based on overriding reasons relating to the public interest.
Met betrekking tot de rechtvaardiging voor de beperkingen van het vrije verkeer van kapitaal, die is gebaseerd op de historische context waarbinnen de wet tot stand is gekomen en op de doelstellingen van sociale, regionale, economische en industriële politiek van deze wet, is de Advocaat-Generaal van mening dat de Duitse regering te algemene en van de realiteit verwijderde argumenten naar voren brengt die niet beantwoorden aan dwingende redenen van algemeen belang.

European inflation is at historically low levels, public sector deficits have been reduced remarkably and the stock of government debt as a percentage of GDP is on a downward path.

Whereas the processing and critical analysis of Community documents and records would not only be of value to historical research in general but would also provide guidance and assistance for the parties concerned in Community affairs and thereby contribute to the attainment of the Community's objectives; whereas, if the Community's objectives are to be attained, there should be common rules governing the opening of the Community's historical archives to the public;
Overwegende dat de exploitatie en de kritische analyse van de archieven van de Gemeenschap niet alleen het historisch onderzoek in het algemeen zouden dienen, maar tegelijkertijd de belangstellenden bij hun optreden zouden kunnen voorlichten en dit kunnen vergemakkelijken en aldus bijdragen tot een betere verwezenlijking van de doelstellingen van de Gemeenschap; dat het, om de doelstellingen van de Gemeenschap te verwezenlijken, derhalve noodzakelijk schijnt gemeenschappelijke regels vast te stellen met betrekking tot de openstelling van de historische archieven van de Gemeenschap voor het publiek;
