Wednesday, 27 January 2010 is the scheduled date for the swearing-in of Porfirio Lobo Soza, alleged victor and junta candidate in the travesty of elections held in Honduras on 29 November 2009, which were marked by repression, violence, fraud and, above all, by a mass boycott called for by the National Popular Resistance Front of Honduras, the FNRP (officially more than 50% but, according to FNRP figures, 65-70%), which effectively invalidates the results.
Op woensdag 27 januari wordt in Honduras Porfirio Lobo Sosa ingezworen. Hij is de door de junta naar voren geschoven, vermeende winnaar van de schijnverkiezingen in dat land op 29 november 2009. Deze verkiezingen werden gekenmerkt door repressie, geweld, fraude en (het belangrijkste) een zeer groot aantal mensen die (daartoe opgeroepen door het FNRP) niet of blanco hebben gestemd (officieel méér dan 50%, tussen de 65 en de 70% volgens het FNRP), waardoor de uitslag in feite ongeldig is.

– (ES) Mr President, I would be pleased if certain left-wing Members of this Parliament who are issuing resolute condemnations of Honduras would issue similarly forceful condemnations of what is happening in Cuba, or what Mr Chávez is doing in Venezuela and in Latin America, because, unfortunately, some people still hanker after and support the Berlin Wall, the purges of Stalin and even the mummy of Lenin more than democratic elections in a country, as in this case in Honduras.

So what we are calling for in the form of the restoration and return of President Zelaya is a necessary but in all probability not sufficient part of the restoration of constitutional order, which is of key importance for our relationship with Honduras, for the development of Honduras and for the credibility of constitutional order and democracy in that part of the world.
Onze oproep voor de terugkeer en rehabilitatie van president Zelaya is dus noodzakelijk, maar waarschijnlijk niet voldoende voor een volledig herstel van de grondwettelijke orde, die cruciaal is voor onze betrekkingen met Honduras, voor de ontwikkeling van Honduras en voor de geloofwaardigheid van de grondwettelijke orde en democratie in dat deel van de wereld.

The species Crax daubentoni, Crax globulosa, Crax rubra, Ortalis vetula, Pauxi pauxi, Penelopina nigra, Arborophila campbelli, Arborophila charltonii, Lophura erythrophthalma, Lophura ignita, Semnornis ramphastinus, Baillonius bailloni, Pteroglossus castanotis, Ramphastos dicolorus and Selenidera maculirostris – which are currently included in Annex B to the Annex to Regulation (EC) No 338/97 – are not subject to levels of international trade that might be incompatible with its survival but are included in Appendix III to the CITES Convention at the requests of Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Malaysia and Argentina, and should therefore be transferred from Annex B to Annex C to the Annex to Regulation (EC) No 338/97.
