– (PT) It is with satisfaction and a sense of responsibility that I am voting in favour of the recommendations to improve EU economic governance suggested in this report. Given that the EU is facing fierce competition from emerging economies and that the stability of public finances is vital for consolidating opportunities, fostering innovation and stimulating economic growth, which are fundamental elements of a European knowledge-based society, and considering that economic growth and sustainable public finances are a precondition for economic and social stability in the EU and for long-term fiscal consolidation, the current rules of the Stability and Growth Pact combined with their poor implementation have proved insufficient to ensure sound macro-economic and budgetary policies.
– (PT) Het is met een gevoel van bevrediging en verantwoordelijkheid dat ik stem vóór de in dit verslag opgenomen aanbevelingen ter verbetering van het economische bestuur van de EU. Welcomes the fact that decision-making areas are beginning to emerge in which the Euro Group acts as the (prime) political and economic coordination body to pinpoint swift responses and jointly agreed strategies, not just in response to the economic and financial crisis, but also to revitalise macro-economic and joint investment strategies aimed at enhancing prospects for growth, averting serious repercussions on public finances and financial stability in the European Union and helping to achieve a better balance between economic and monetary policies within the European Union;
11. is verheugd over het feit dat zich besluitvormingscentra beginnen te vormen waarin de eurogroep optreedt als het (primaire) orgaan van politieke en economische coördinatie dat snelle reacties en gezamenlijke strategieën bepaalt, niet alleen in antwoord op de economische en financiële crisis, maar ook om het macro-economisch beleid en de gemeenschappelijke investeringen nieuwe impuls te geven teneinde de groeivooruitzichten te stimuleren, ernstige repercussies voor de openbare financiën en de financiële stabiliteit in de Europese Unie te voorkomen en een beter evenwicht te helpen tot stand brengen tussen economisch en monetair beleid in de Europese Unie;

This European Economic Recovery Plan will form part of the EU's contribution to closer international macro economic co-operation, including with emerging countries, designed to restore growth, avoid negative spillovers and support developing countries.
Het voorliggend Europees economisch herstelplan zal deel uitmaken van de bijdrage van de EU tot nauwere internationale macro-economische samenwerking, inclusief met opkomende landen, met de bedoeling de groei te herstellen, negatieve meezuigeffecten te voorkomen en de ontwikkelingslanden te steunen.

12. Special attention should be given to emerging areas for sensitizing development cooperation to gender issues: emergency operations and crisis prevention and the continuum to development, human rights and democratization, macro-economic analysis and interventions, sexual and reproductive health and rights.
12. Speciale aandacht moet uitgaan naar nieuwe gebieden om genderkwesties in de ontwikkelingssamenwerking mee te nemen : noodhulp en crisispreventie, ontwikkeling op lange termijn, mensenrechten en democratisering, macro-economische analyse en maatregelen, gezondheid en rechten op sexueel gebied en met betrekking tot de voortplanting.
