Medicines and medical equipment will be sent urgently to Hargeisa in the north-west of the country, the scene of recent factional fighting; three further aid allocations will ensure that current medical aid projects in Luuq, Mogadishu and the province of Middle Shabelle are able to continue functioning. 1. Emergency aid of ECU 30 000 will be used to replenish the central medical stores at Hargeisa with medicines and basic medical equipment in order to meet the recent increase in demand; this will ensure that medical aid programmes in the region can continue to function and treatment be provided for the injured and those recently made homeless.
