Harmonised standard EN 302 571 is being finalised by European Telecommunications Standard Institute (ETSI) in line with the CEPT compatibility studies in order to give presumption of conformity to Article 3(2) of Directive 1999/5/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of 9 March 1999 on radio equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment and the mutual recognition of their conformity (6), thus ensuring that compliant ITS equipment avoids causing harmful interference.

(a) "freight corridor" shall mean all designated railway lines including railway ferry lines, on the territory of, or between Member States, and, where necessary, European third countries, linking two or more terminals, along a principal route and, where appropriate, diversionary routes and sections connecting them, including the railway infrastructure and its equipment in accordance with Article 5 of Directive 2001/14/EC;

Terminal equipment that is an integral part of the network must be able to allow access for disabled users to services such as reception of audio description, sub-titling of television programmes, audio output of electronic programme guides or caller line identification.

Access conditions related to terminal equipment are considered to be fulfilled when the terminal equipment complies with the approval conditions set out for its connection to the network termination point of the type of leased line concerned, in accordance with Directive 91/263/EEC (6).

In the case where a user's terminal equipment does not comply or no longer complies with these conditions, the provision of the leased line may be interrupted until the terminal is disconnected from the network termination point.
