An application for authorisation of the use of Talc (E 553b) and Carnauba wax (E 903) on unpeeled coloured boiled eggs and the use of Shellac (E 904) on unpeeled boiled eggs was submitted and was made available to the Member States.

To ensure that certain food processing aids (talc, bentonite, and kaolin) in the list are free from non-authorised substances, the panel suggested that they should only be used where they meet the purity standards specified for those food additives in Community laws.

Whereas the experience gained in implementing Article 57 of Regulation (EEC) No 1408/71 has revealed a shortcoming in cases where the conditions of none of the national legislations under which an activity likely to cause an occupational disease other than sclerogenic pneumoconiosis was being pursued, have been satisfied; whereas this shortcoming should be remedied by extending the scope of Article 57 (3) (a) and (b) to all occupational diseases; whereas it is consequently necessary to amend Article 60 (1) (c) and (2) and Article 94 (8) of the said Regulation;
Overwegende dat uit de ervaring die is opgedaan bij de toepassing van artikel 57 van Verordening ( EEG ) nr . 1408/71 is gebleken dat er een lacune bestaat in de gevallen waarin aan de voorwaarden van geen enkele nationale wetgeving is voldaan bij de uitoefening van een werkzaamheid waardoor een andere beroepsziekte dan sclerogene pneumoconiosis kan ontstaan; dat in deze lacune dient te worden voorzien door de werkingssfeer van artikel 57, lid 3, onder a ) en b ), uit te breiden tot alle beroepsziekten; dat het derhalve noodzakelijk is artikel 60, lid 1, onder c ), en lid 2, en artikel 94, lid 8, van genoemde verordening te wijzigen;

(c) if, in the case covered by subparagraph (b), an employed or self-employed person suffering from sclerogenic pneumoconiosis or from a disease determined under Article 57 (4) is not entitled to benefits under the legislation of the second Member State, the competent institution of the first Member State shall be bound to provide benefits under the legislation which it administers, taking into account the aggravation.
c) indien in het sub b) genoemde geval een werknemer of zelfstandige die lijdt aan sclerogene pneumoconiosis of aan een op grond van artikel 57, lid 4, aangewezen ziekte, geen recht heeft op uitkeringen krachtens de wettelijke regeling van de tweede Lid-Staat, dient het bevoegde orgaan van de eerste Lid-Staat de uitkeringen te verlenen volgens de door dit orgaan toegepaste wettelijke regeling, waarbij het rekening houdt met de verergering.

8. In cases of sclerogenic pneumoconiosis, Article 57 (3) (c) shall apply to cash benefits for an occupational disease the expense of which, in the absence of an agreement between the institutions concerned, could not be divided between those institutions before the date of entry into force of this Regulation.
8. In geval van sclerogene pneumoconiosis is artikel 57, lid 3, sub c), van toepassing op uitkeringen op grond van een beroepsziekte, waarvan de lasten, door het ontbreken van een overeenkomst tussen de betrokken organen, voor de datum van inwerkingtreding van deze verordening niet over deze organen konden worden omgeslagen.
