One of the reasons for the poisoning of relations between the two peoples is that the Socialist Group in the European Parliament turned a blind eye to the policies of the Slovak SMER party coalition, thereby fuelling extreme, explicitly anti-minority policies.
Een van de redenen voor de verslechtering van de verstandhouding tussen de twee volkeren is dat de Sociaal-democratische Fractie haar ogen sloot voor het coalitiebeleid van de SMER, daarbij de Slowaakse Nationale Partij aanmoedigend om een extremistisch en uitdrukkelijk antiminderhedenbeleid te voeren.
