TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

As agreed by the European Council, the President of the Commission, in close cooperation with the President of the Euro Summit, the President of the Eurogroup and the President of the European Central Bank, will report on these matters to the June 2015 European Council.

Today, the five Presidents – European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, together with the President of the Euro Summit, Donald Tusk, the President of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the President of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi, and the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz – have revealed ambitious plans on how to deepen the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) as of 1 July 2015 and how to complete it by latest 2025.

Over dinner we will discuss the report on the future of the Economic and Monetary Union, that I presented earlier this week and prepared in close cooperation with Commission President Barroso, Eurogroup President Juncker and ECB President Draghi.

In its conclusions of 29 June 2012, the European Council invited its President to develop, in close collaboration with the President of the Commission, the President of the Eurogroup and the President of the ECB, a specific and time-bound road map for the achievement of a genuine economic and monetary union, which includes concrete proposals on preserving the unity and integrity of the internal market in financial services.

On the same day, the Heads of State or Government of the Member States whose currency is the euro stated that the existing administrative structures providing assistance to the Council and to the Committee, namely, the General Secretariat of the Council and the Secretariat of the Economic and Financial Committee, would provide adequate support to the euro Summit President and the President of the Eurogroup, under the guidance of the President of the Committee/Eurogroup Working Group.

In order to enhance the dialogue between the Union institutions, in particular the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission, and to ensure greater transparency and accountability, the competent committee of the European Parliament may invite the President of the Council, the Commission and, where appropriate, the President of the European Council or the President of the Eurogroup to appear before the committee to discuss decisions taken pursuant to Article 3.
Om de dialoog tussen de instellingen van de Unie, in het bijzonder het Europees Parlement, de Raad en de Commissie te bevorderen en te zorgen voor meer transparantie en verantwoordelijkheid, kan de bevoegde commissie van het Europees Parlement de voorzitter van de Raad, de Commissie en indien nodig de voorzitter van de Europese Raad of de voorzitter van de eurogroep in de commissie uitnodigen om de overeenkomstig artikel 3 genomen besluiten te bespreken.

Ministers held a breakfast meeting, where the president of the eurogroup reported on the eurogroup meeting held on 3 December and on a visit by a eurogroup delegation to China.

At lunch the President informed his colleagues of the work carried out by Eurogroup, which had met late the previous afternoon. Eurogroup had focused primarily on: the situation and prospects in the euro zone and for the euro in the light of the new autumn 2000 economic forecast presented by the Commission the week before, budgetary consolidation within Eurogroup, improvements to economic information in particular the Commission's introduction of a new economic performance indicator on the practical aspects of preparations for the introduction of the euro and on the functioning of Eurogroup.
