Recognises that the new buildings currently under construction for the European Parliament offer a unique opportunity to set an example through the implementation of best environmental practice; welcomes the fact that the D4-D5/ARDENNE buildings will be designed and constructed in compliance with environmental regulations; supports the decision to install a system for the recovery, storage and re-use of rain water in the D4 Building; supports the decision to reduce energy consumption in the buildings through the use of the following techniques: advanced thermal insulation, air-conditioning systems which facilitate heat recovery or free cooling, solar panels for water heating purposes and the possibility of a unit for the cogeneration of heat and electricity ;
