The new agreement commonly known as the 'Revised TACA' brings the activities of the TACA conference into line with the main guidelines for conference behaviour (laid down by the TACA Decision).

On 5 July 1994, the parties to the Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement (TACA) submitted an application to the Commission seeking an exemption under Article 85 of the EC Treaty.
De partnerbedrijven bij de TACA hadden, zich beroepend op een verordening uit 1986 waarin de vaststelling van prijzen voor het zeevervoer wordt toegestaan, op 5 juli 1994 bij de Commissie een verzoek ingediend om van de in artikel 85 van het Verdrag vastgelegde mogelijkheden van vrijstelling te kunnen profiteren.
