TTWAs are territorial units that are smaller in size than counties (NUTS III).

Some TTWAs are only partly covered by the new map. These are: Newport, Shotton, Flint and Rhyl, Wrexham, Dorchester and Weymouth, Cardiff (Objective 2 area), and London (a small area accounting for 0.5% of the total population of the United Kingdom).
