Takes the view that the proposed exercise should focus first and foremost on the very aims of the multilateral trade system, to ensure that they are mutually supportive and consistent with the action being taken by other international organisations; considers in particular that the coordination of WTO activities with those of the International Labour Organization ( ILO), the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Kyoto programme on renewable energy, should be strengthened, in order to ensure greater consistency in the decision-making processes of those organisations; in this connection, believes that the ILO should be granted observer status before the WTO and that a committee on trade and decent employment should be set up modelled on the Committee on Trade and Environment;

The International Olive Council shall make whatever arrangements are appropriate for consultation or cooperation with the United Nations and its organs, in particular the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the Joint FAO/WHO Programme of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) and other specialised agencies of the United Nations and with such intergovernmental, governmental and non-governmental organisations as may be appropriate for the olive sector and as may strive to provide funds to support the activities of the International Olive Council for the benefit of all the Members.

The council shall make whatever arrangements are appropriate for consultation or cooperation with the United Nations and its organs, in particular the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations and such other specialised agencies of the United Nations and intergovernmental organisations as may be appropriate.

(g) as far as possible, establish common positions in international organisations in the field of customs such as the WTO, the World Customs Organisation (WCO), the United Nations Organization (UN) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD);

2. The Council, bearing in mind the particular role of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in international commodity trade, shall, as appropriate, keep that organisation informed of its activities and programmes of work.
2. Indachtig de bijzondere rol van de Conferentie van de Verenigde Naties voor Handel en Ontwikkeling in de internationale grondstoffenhandel houdt de Cacaoraad die organisatie op passende wijze op de hoogte van zijn activiteiten en werkprogramma's.

Whereas, in accordance with the offer it made within the United National Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) in the light of the special nature of the trade in jute and coconut-fibre products, the Community introduced tariff preferences in 1971 for such products from certain developing countries; whereas these preferences took the form of a gradual reduction in Common Customs Tariff duties, without quantitative limits, culminating in the complete suspension of these duties in 1978;
Overwegende dat de Gemeenschap, overeenkomstig het aanbod dat zij in het kader van de Conferentie van de Verenigde Naties voor handel en ontwikkeling (Unctad) heeft gedaan, rekening houdend met het specifieke karakter van de handel in produkten van jute en kokos, sedert 1971 voor deze produkten van oorsprong uit bepaalde ontwikkelingslanden tariefpreferenties toekent, bestaande in een geleidelijke verlaging van de rechten van het gemeenschappelijk douanetarief zonder kwantitatieve beperking en - sedert 1978 - in een volledige schorsing van deze rechten;
