The period of application of the animal health control measures provided for in Implementing Decision 2014/709/EU should take account of the epidemiology of African swine fever and the conditions required to regain disease-free status for African swine fever in accordance with the Terrestrial Animal Health Code of the World Organisation for Animal Health.

AJ. whereas the One Health concept, endorsed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), recognises that human health, animal health and ecosystems are interconnected; whereas, in particular, animals and animal-derived food can serve as a direct main source of resistant zoonotic pathogens; whereas, therefore the use of antibiotics in animals, particularly those intended for consumption and kept in high-density farming, can affect antibiotic resistance in humans;

Calls on the Commission to strengthen its close operation with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and other relevant parties and organisations at international level in order to deal more effectively at a global level with antimicrobial resistance; welcomes in this context the establishment of the EU-US Transatlantic task force on urgent antimicrobial resistance (TATFAR);
35. dringt bij de Commissie aan op nauwere samenwerking met de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie, de Wereldorganisatie voor diergezondheid (OIE) en andere internationaal relevante partijen en organisaties om op mondiaal niveau efficiënter te kunnen optreden tegen antimicrobiële resistentie; verwelkomt in dat verband de oprichting van de trans-Atlantische taskforce van de EU en de VS voor urgente gevallen van antimicrobiële resistentie (TATFAR);

34.
