In the case of a legal person, or a group of natural or legal persons, Member States may apply the adjustment rate referred to in paragraph 1 at the level of the members of those legal persons or groups where national law provides for the individual members to assume rights and obligations comparable to those of individual farmers who have the status of a head of holding, in particular as regards their economic, social and tax status, provided that they have contributed to strengthening the agricultural structures of the legal persons or groups concerned.
4. This amount includes four parts: 1) more than EUR 240 billion of financial assistance (First and Second Economic Adjustment Programme for Greece), 2) almost EUR 42 billion of EU funding from 2007-2013 period, which consists of around EUR 24 billion from EU Structural and Cohesion Funds, the fisheries and rural development funds, and around EUR 17 billion for direct payments to farmers and support measures for agricultural markets; 3) more than EUR 35 billion of EU funding from 2014-2020 period, which consists of EUR 20 billion European Structural and Investment Funds and over EUR 15 billion for direct payments to farmers and support measures for agricultural markets; and 4) EUR 100 billion of private sector involvement.

In working out the common agricultural policy and the special methods for its application, account has to be taken of the particular nature of agricultural activity, which results from the special structure of agriculture and from structural and natural disparities between the various agricultural regions, the need to effect the appropriate adjustments by degrees and the fact that agriculture constitutes a sector closely linked with the economy as a whole.
Bij de nadere uitwerking van het gemeenschappelijk landbouwbeleid en de bepaling van de maatregelen ter uitvoering ervan moet rekening worden gehouden met de specifieke kenmerken van landbouwactiviteiten als gevolg van de bijzondere structuur van de landbouw en van structurele en natuurlijke verschillen tussen landbouwgebieden, met de noodzaak de vereiste aanpassingen geleidelijk door te voeren en met het feit dat de landbouw nauw met de economie als geheel is verbonden.

The objective of the proposed regulation is "to establish the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) for the period of the Multiannual Financial Framework from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2020" (Article 1(1)) the aim of which is described as contributing "to economic growth and employment in the Union by enabling the Union to show solidarity towards workers made redundant as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation, trade agreements affecting agriculture, or an unexpected crisis, and to provide financial support for their rapid reintegration into employment, or for changing or adjusting their agricultural activities" (Article 1(2)).

As part of the accession negotiations, not only must the Community patrimony in the field of agricultural policy be brought into line with the specific features of the applicant countries, those countries must also be granted financial assistance so as to enable them to adjust their agricultural structures to the standards of the EU.
Bij de toetredingsonderhandelingen is het niet alleen zaak het acquis communautaire op landbouwgebied in overeenstemming te brengen met de speciale situatie in de kandidaatlanden; veeleer moet deze landen ook financiële hulp worden toegekend voor de aanpassing van hun landbouwstructuren aan de EU-normen.
