This conference will gather relevant representatives of the countries which have been beneficiaries of dedicated assistance programmes referred to in section 3.2 and ad hoc assistance activities referred to in section 3.3.

Rural development policy, with assistance from the EAGGF Guidance Section (for Objective 1 and the Leader+ Community Initiative) or the EAGGF Guarantee Section (for Objective 2 and the national rural development plans), aims primarily at making rural regions more competitive and helping protect and create jobs in those regions.

Pursuant to Article 21(2) of Regulation (EC) No 1260/1999, the Commission, following the procedure laid down in Article 50(2) of that Regulation, may extend the scope of assistance from the EAGGF Guidance Section beyond that provided for in Article 35(2) of this Regulation and the financing of measures eligible under Council Regulations (EC) No 1262/1999(21), (EC) No 1261/1999(22) and (EC) No 1263/1999(23) with a view to implementing all the measures in the rural development Community initiative.

Overeenkomstig artikel 21, lid 2, van Verordening (EG) nr. 1260/1999 kan de Commissie volgens de procedure van artikel 50, lid 2, van die verordening besluiten de bijstandsverlening uit de afdeling Oriëntatie van het EOGFL een ruimere werkingssfeer te geven dan die welke is vastgesteld in artikel 35, lid 2, van de onderhavige verordening en de financiering van maatregelen die op grond van de Verordeningen (EG) nr. 1262/1999(21), (EG) nr. 1261/1999(22) en (EG) nr. 1263/1999(23)van de Raad kunnen worden gefinancierd, teneinde uitvoering te geven aan alle maatregelen van het communautaire initiatief voor plattelandsontwikkeling.

Pursuant to Article 45 of Council Regulation (EC) No 1257/1999, the scope of assistance from the EAGGF Guidance section for measures in the Community initiative for rural development is extended to the whole Community and its financing extended to measures eligible under European Parliament Council Regulations (EC) No 1261/1999(29) and (EC) No 1262/1 999(30).
Overeenkomstig artikel 45 van Verordening (EG) nr. 1257/1999 wordt voor maatregelen in het raam van het communautaire initiatief voor plattelandsontwikkeling de werkingssfeer van de bijstandsverlening uit de afdeling Oriëntatie van het EOGFL tot de gehele Gemeenschap verruimd en wordt de financiering door deze afdeling tot de maatregelen die op grond van de Verordeningen (EG) nr. 1261/1999(29) en (EG) nr. 1262/1999(30) van het Europees Parlement en de Raad genomen worden, uitgebreid.
