TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

21. Stresses that implementing legislation on the protection of minorities and cultural rights remains an important challenge in Kosovo; points out the need to implement the legislation on cultural heritage and the Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as the strategy and action plan for the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, whose situation on the ground is still a major cause for concern; while welcoming the fact that some progress has been made towards improving the livelihoods of Roma, Askhali and Egyptian communities, remains concerned about their situation, given that children in particular remain vulnerable and marginalised; stresses the need to address the situation of Roma as a key human rights issue; calls on the authorities and the Commission to give adequate attention to improving the living conditions of these communities, including their access to education; stresses the position of Croatian, Bosniak, Ashkali, Turkish, Gorani and Balkan-Egyptian minorities with regard to the importance of multilingual education, for the purpose of ensuring that these ethnic minorities do not feel politically isolated;

18. Notes that further efforts are needed to protect and guarantee in practice the rights of all ethnic minorities in Kosovo, including the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities as well as the Gorani community, through the full implementation of the relevant legislation, bearing in mind best practices from the region and from EU Member States; calls on the national and local authorities to invest greater effort into implementing the laws adopted so that they can contribute to the continued development of a multi-ethnic society, particularly as regards the education and employment of minorities, and with the aim of preventing direct and indirect discrimination; welcomes the ‘Pristina Declaration’ that calls upon governments, international, intergovernmental and civil society organisations to thoroughly apply principles of non-discrimination and equality when working and acting on promotion and respect of Roma rights and fighting Antigypsyism in the Western Balkans;
18. merkt op dat er meer moet worden gedaan om de rechten van alle etnische minderheden in Kosovo, met inbegrip van de Roma, Askhali en Egyptische gemeenschappen alsook de Gorani-gemeenschap te beschermen en in de praktijk te waarborgen, door de desbetreffende wetgeving volledig ten uitvoer te leggen, waarbij rekening moet worden gehouden met de optimale praktijken uit de regio en de EU-lidstaten; verzoekt de nationale en lokale instanties zich meer in te spannen voor de tenuitvoerlegging van de aangenomen wetten om bij te dragen aan de verdere ontwikkeling van de multi-etnische samenleving, vooral op het vlak van onderwijs en werkgelegenheid voor minderheden, en met het doel directe en indirecte discriminatie te voorkomen; is verheugd over de "Verklaring van Pristina" die regeringen en internationale, intergouvernementele en maatschappelijke organisaties vraagt om de beginselen van non-discriminatie en gelijkheid grondig toe te passen tijdens het werk aan de bevordering en eerbiediging van de rechten van de Roma en de bestrijding van zigeunerhaat op de Westelijke Balkan;
