As part of the assessment of the impact on salmon stock levels in the Baltic Sea, wide-ranging consultations have been held with stakeholders, including fishermen, non-governmental organisations, anglers, advisory bodies, such as the Baltic Sea Regional Advisory Council (BS RAC) and the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), government and local authority representatives from the various countries involved, the Committee of the Regions, etc. Many detailed questions have been put to the Commission on issues of controversy among interested parties, on subjects such as recreational fishing or the allocation of fishing quotas among the individual countries.
Het meerjarenplan voor het behoud van de Baltische zalm speelt in dit verband een zeer belangrijke rol. Om de impact van dit verslag op het niveau van het zalmbestand in het Oostzeegebied te kunnen inschatten, vond een uitvoerige raadpleging van alle belanghebbenden plaats: beroepsvissers, sportvissers, niet-gouvernementele organisaties, adviesorganen zoals de Regionale Adviesraad voor de Oostzee en de Internationale Raad voor het onderzoek van de zee (ICES), vertegenwoordigers van de regeringen en de lokale overheden van de betrokken lidstaten, het Comité van de Regio's, enz. It is of particular importance that the Commission carry out appropriate consultations with the Baltic Sea Regional Advisory Council and relevant stakeholders during its preparatory work, including at expert level.

For the purpose of this evaluation, the Commission shall seek the advice of STECF and of the Baltic Sea Regional Advisory Council.

During its work on two joint recommendations the BALTFISH consulted the Baltic Sea Advisory Council (BSAC) and other stakeholders.
