– (ES) Madam President, Commissioner, ladies and gentlemen, I am delighted to be appearing before Parliament’s plenary sitting to take part in the joint debate on organ donation and transplantation.

The Council shall, before the end of 1999, review and assess the way in which the Member States are complying with this Joint Action, and, in so doing, it shall also take account of the results of the operation of the mechanism for evaluating the application and implementation at national level of international undertakings in the fight against organized crime adopted on 5 December 1997.
De Raad zal dit gemeenschappelijk optreden vóór eind 1999 toetsen en gaat daarbij na hoe de lidstaten dit opvolgen, en houdt daarbij rekening met de resultaten van de werking van het mechanisme voor evaluatie van de uitvoering en toepassing op nationaal niveau van de internationale verbintenissen inzake de bestrijding van de georganiseerde criminaliteit dat op 5 december 1997 is aangenomen.

In recommendation 11, a joint action establishing a specific multi-annual programme to combat organized crime, including fraud affecting the financial interests of the Communities, to be put into force before 1997.
